Pandora's Past

Long before Twilight, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Apple Jack, or even the Elements of Harmony’s discovery. Earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns had kept to their own kind for as long as any pony can remember, this also included ponies of other nations such as changelings, crystal ponies, and many others. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were still young at the time and their parents had still so many things to teach them. Alicorns weren’t the only creatures that some how remained scarce in the land of Equestria, far beyond Everfree Forest, was a land of creatures known as Draconequi.

Far back before Celestia and Luna’s birth. A king and queen ruled the land of Draconequi. The king’s name was Disconnect, he was strong, loyal, and kind to his wife and subjects. The queen was blessed with the name Disarray, she was kind and brave to her subjects as well. How they meet was probably a mystery to all Draconequi. But it was a wonderful mystery, they adored their king and queen. Then one day, a miracle came to the kingdom. The king and queen had given birth to the prince of chaos. Discord.

Disarray had given the name to the newborn prince, everypony who heard of Discord knew his name meant a lack of harmony between ponies, but to Disarray, his name meant distant for greatness. Disconnect smiled knowing the little prince would do wondrous things for the kingdom he would soon rule. Everyday, Disconnect would spend time with Discord, even though Discord was very young, he already understood his destiny. As the days passed by, Disarray was bearing another child, a princess. The day of her birth, sounded an angel’s choir to Disconnect’s and Disarray’s ears. Disconnect blessed the princess with the name of Pandora. Everypony in Equestria knew her name meant chaos, but to Disconnect, her name meant beauty and joy. Each and everyday, Disconnect and Disarray would spend time with their little prince and princess.

Discord and Pandora loved each other very much. They played with each other and pulled pranks on other creatures with each other and laughed at their pranks. A month had passed, alicorns had charged to the land of Draconequi. It looked like an attack or something worse. Disarray scooped up the young Discord and dashed to the Everfree forest as two alicorns chased after her. Disconnect held Pandora in his arms and dashed in a different direction to Everfree.

As soon as an alicorn caught up with Disconnect, he dropped his daughter on the ground as she landed on her feet. “Pandora! Run! Go! Daddy will be alright!” Pandora’s eyes flooded with tears. “B-but papa, I don’t wanna leave you! I need you!” Disconnect turned to his little princess. “Pandora! I’ll be alright! You need to run and hide!” Pandora sobbed lightly. “I love you, Daddy.” She whispered before she ran off into the Everfree Forest. Disconnect looked back at his daughter and whispered back “I love you too, Pandora. My little princess.”

Hours later, nightfall had reached it’s peak. Pandora came out of hiding and looked around for her mother, father, and big brother. “Mommy! Daddy! Discord! Where are you? I’m scared! Please come back!” She ran to where her father was, what she saw, horrified her.

“Daddy? A-are you okay?” She shook her father, trying to wake him up. “Papa, come on. We need to get back to Mommy and Discord. Wake up, papa!” She kept trying to wake up her father. “Papa! Lets go home together! Please!” She sobbed hard. “PAPA!!!” Her cry echoed through out Equestria.

She cried herself to sleep next to her father’s corpse. The very next morning, she woke up, she lost all hope for her father to awaken. She walked back to her home, she hoped the other draconequi, including her mother and brother would be there after the battle. At least she’d have her mother and brother, so it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

When she reached her home, she found no one, not even her mother or brother. Pandora fell on her knees. Where was everyone? She didn’t know. She covered her face with her lion paw and eagle claw and started sobbing. Minutes after sobbing, she finally decided to search for another home. She ran out of the Everfree Forest and found the Crystal Empire hours after searching. She smiled at the Crystal ponies and tried to introduce herself and greet them. But something was wrong, everypony she wanted to say “hello” to, turned away from her.

She felt so much rejection. B-but I’m the princess… She thought to herself. Why are they rejecting me? She continued walking when she came across a young crystal pony, little did she know that it was King Sombra. She wanted to say “hello” but she had so many ponies reject her, she was afraid he’d reject her as well as the others. She gave up and moved on to the next location.

It had been at least days since Pandora had tried to find a home. She finally found herself in a land where creatures known as Changelings lived. That was where she made her first friend since her brother, Chrysalis. Chrysalis was still young and a princess when she and Pandora meet. She walked up to Chrysalis when she first saw her. “Hello, I’m Princess Pandora, what’s your name?” Chrysalis smiled. “I’m Princess Chrysalis.”

They both smiled, they became fast friends and everyday they shared secrets, stories, and life dreams. Everything was perfect. For the first few days. Their friendship ended when Chrysalis’s mother found out about it.

Chrysalis was just bringing some food to Pandora, when her mother followed her. “AH-HA!” Chrysalis’s mother’s voice was loud and booming, loud enough to scare Pandora. “Daughter, I had told you not to bring food to peasants! Now leave that horrid creature!” Pandora’s expression was shocked. Peasant?... She was on the verge of crying. Chrysalis’s eyes began to water. “B-but mother, she’s a princess and she’s my friend, my best friend.” Her mother looked at Pandora and began laughing. “A princess?!? That’s a laugh! She needs an appearance, attitude, and many more to be a princess! And you are not to be friends with this creature!” Tears flooded Chrysalis’s face. Her mother stepped forth to Pandora and stomped. “AWAY WITH YOU, YOU UGLY WORTHLESS LITTLE GIRL!!!” She spat at Pandora, banishing her away from Chrysalis’s home.

Pandora took off crying. Night soon fell. She was lonely, hungry, scared, and unhappy. She soon saw a shadow pass by. It looked like a dragon. Pandora looked up to the sky and saw a pony with some features like a bat. She flew over to her and noticed she was being attacked by a diamond dog. Pandora’s eyes grew hot, anger filled her soul, and her fists tightened. She dashed towards the pony and dog. She stood in front of the dog and growled. “LEAVE HER ALONE!!!” She snapped her fingers as a cotton candy cloud drowned the dog’s fur with chocolate rain. The dog yelped and rain as the cloud followed it. Pandora looked at the pony.

“Are you alright?” She held out her lion paw and helped the pony up. “I’m Pandora.” The pony nodded as it got back up on it’s hoofs. “Thank you, Pandora. I’m Sandra.” Pandora smiled. “That’s a beautiful name. Are you all alone too?” Sandra nodded and cried. “I lost my mommy and daddy.” Pandora frowned. “I lost my mommy and daddy too. And my brother.” Pandora hugged, Sandra. “But you won’t lose me, you're my best friend now, Sandra.” Pandora had tears of joy streaking down her cheeks. She wasn’t alone anymore.

Years passed, Pandora was now fully grown, strong-willed, and young at heart. She looked to the skies and all throughout Equestria. She lost all hope in finding her parents, but lost no hope in her brother, he had survived the alicorns, didn’t he? She hoped to see her big brother Discord one last time. “Pandora!” Pandora turned her head to find her friend Sandra. “Sandra, is something wrong?” Sandra shook her head. “No, I found your brother, Discord!”

Pandora’s eyes light up and started grinning from ear to ear. Sandra frowned, she didn’t want to give Pandora bad news about what happened to Discord though. “But...there’s bad news about him as well…” Pandora's smile quickly transformed into a frown, her ears dropped at the back of her head touching her snow white hair, and her eyes had a sad expression on it. “Why?...Is he hurt?...” Sandra looked up at Pandora, knowing her dear old friend wanted an answer about what had happened to her brother, Discord, the master and now called king of chaos and disharmony.
