Chapter 6: Shelter and A Plan


Hours started passing by. Caitlin glued her eyes at the prison windows. Only a small patch of light was visible. She sighed, thinking with a heavy heart that most of this was her fault. If it wasn’t for her, Lucario, Aaron, Sheldon, and everyone else would be safe and sound. Her heart and thoughts began to grow heavier and heavier with every negative thought set in her mind.

Aaron glanced over at the young trainer. “Caitlin, this isn’t your fault. I’m sure you’re Pikachu and Eevee are taking good care of Lucario and Sheldon.”

“It’s not that, Aaron.” Caitlin spoke in a grimly depressed tone. “I wanted to live up to my parents expectations and become the best there ever was. Literally. But now this happens and I get nearly half of my Pokemon captured and only four of them, one being your Lucario, are probably lost, cold, hungry and scared.” She covered her face in disgrace and disappointment. “I’m just so confused. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. Do I just sit here and wait for a miracle or a curse to happen?”

Aaron glanced at the floor, the back at Caitlin. He rose from his seat and sat next to Caitlin, and began to wrap one arm around her. “Yes. We just have to wait and see how everything goes.”

He then wrapped another arm around her and hugged her tightly, embracing his protection to the trainer. “I can assure you that everything will be alright in the end. I may or may not be able to tell what the future holds, but I can only assure you that it will be alright. I promise.”

Aaron’s comfort did seem to help Caitlin a small bit. But it didn’t help her ease her worries about her and Aaron’s Pokemon. She hoped that Aaron was correct upon everything being okay at the end. She had nothing else left but hope.

The minute Sparkles and Lady had their strength and energy fully gained again, they headed off to the trails to the nearest shelter they could easily get to. Sparkles looked back, checking on Sheldon and Lucario every few minutes. She smiled as they were sound asleep. She then smiled at Lady.

“Their really cute when they’re asleep.” Sparkles whispered, trying her best not to awaken Lucario or Sheldon.

Lady nodded in agreement. “But remember what we promised Master Caitlin. If anything happens to her, the elders look after the younger Pokemon.” Sparkles nodded.

“I remember. But this is our first time and we’re both barely a year old. We’re only two months of age yet we’re mature for that age. That’s what I don’t understand. I have heard of the saying “they grow up so fast” but this is a little too much.”

Lady sighed and nodded. “Yeah, I know. But we can’t really get an answer as to why we are literally growing up and maturing this quickly.” Sparkles sighed. “I guess you’re right.” She agreed in a rather disappointed tone. She wasn’t able to get her answer.

But fate decreed she would eventually. The minute they arrived on top of a miniature hill, they noticed a small cottage house. Sparkles was a bit uneasy and unsure if Lady was truly given off the correct coronations and location for the place she was talking about.

“Lady, are you sure this is the place?” Sparkles asked in a highly unsure tone. Lady nodded. “Yes, I’m sure. Master did come here a few or more times if I remember correctly.” Sparkles sighed, hoping Lady was correct. “I hope you’re right.”

“Well, we aren’t going to get inside just standing around here.” Lady started walking towards the small building. Sparkles followed, still being rather unsure if Lady did get the directions correct.

The moment they stopped at the door. Lady lightly scratched and mewed, hoping for an answer. The door slowly opened. Only to find a Chansey, a Wigglytuff, and an Audino. Lady smiled at them.

“Hey, we need a place to stay, is there any vacancy here?” Lady asked hoping for the answer to be a yes. The Audino nodded in response. Lady and Sparkles both smiled happily. “Oh thank you so much!” Lady yelped excitedly.

Chansey and Wigglytuff unlatched Sparkles’ and Lady’s harnesses from the wagon. Audino smiled. “Wigglytuff will show you both to your rooms and help you unpack your things, Chansey and I will take care of the little ones in the wagon, you both have nothing to worry about.”

Lady smiled and nodded. “Thank you so much.” Wigglytuff held two sets of luggage that Caitlin packed for Sparkles and Lady just in case in an emergency. “Lets go you two. You both need plenty of rest.” She led the two to the first floor to room 101.

Audino smiled as she picked up Sheldon and held him in her arms. “Aww, he’s adorable.” Chansey giggled seeing Lucario starting to wake up. “Looks like this one’s starting to wake up.”

Lucario looked up at Audino. His vision was slightly blurred. He reached his paws and gently rubbed the sand from his eyes. Finally having a clear vision, he smiled at Audino and reached up at her, wanting to be held. Audino cooed at Lucario’s cute display and picked him up and cradled him in her arms.

Lady wrote down the plan, carefully calculating how it would be worked out and how the hypothesis of the plan would end, she had hoped it would end well.

“Okay, Sparkles. You and I are gonna leave Lucario and Sheldon here with Audino, Chansey, and Wigglytuff, they’ll be safe here. While they’re still here, we’ll sneak into Team Rocket’s base through the roof. That’s when you look for Aaron and Caitlin and the others and I’ll look for the key. Then we set everyone free and defeat Team Rocket simple as that. How ‘bout it?”

Sparkles became deep in thought with Lady’s plan. It seemed too obvious and too simple. But she had to agree with her plan. “Okay. We’ll leave them a note and head out at dawn.”

Lady smiled. “Perfect!” The two girls jumped for joy as they were excited to see their trainer and friends again.
